The characters of worthy performance

 Human performance improvement (HPI) aims to achieve the designated goals through people in a focused organization or system. The desired result is the worthy performance, which may have the following characters:

  • It is effective.  Effectiveness is the ability to produce actual results (the effect) based on planned or standard output. For a program in an organization, the effectiveness evaluates the strategic goals and its alignment with mission of the organization, the degree of stakeholder’s commitment and collaboration to reach common purpose, and how well the timely services or products are made accessible or affordable (or both) at the right place. It evaluates the actual results compared with the desired results.
  • It is efficient. Efficiency measures the improved or increased services and products generated without changing the inputs. Efficiency is used to determine the best practice and costs associated with practices or operations. Quantitatively, efficiency is determined as the ratio of amount of work output or operation (usually energy, time, or money) over amount of work input or operation.
  • It is profitable. Profitability measures the quantitative differences between revenue obtained from an output and the costs associated with the use of inputs in producing that output. Profitability refer to financial gains and being cost-effective. Return on Investment (ROI) is a popular profitability metric used to evaluate how well an investment has performed. The benefit-cost ratio (BCR) is another profitability indicator used to identify the relationship between the cost and benefits of a proposed project.
  • It is productive. Productivity determines the produced output when considering the input resources or factors. A productive individual
